Lasswell hopes this propels his team forward. The Hornets came into the tournament losing their first two matches before getting an overtime win over Raytown South on Sept. “It was a long week for us but I’m really proud of the way the guys played and we were able to pull out the championship.” “It was a great job by our players putting in a lot of hard minutes we don’t have that many subs and we’re not that deep of a team,” Lasswell said. Lasswell said the Hornets’ run to the championship match is even more impressive when considering the level of effort the players had to give with only one or two players on the bench. “Their forward is dangerous and they did a really nice job on him so they played great all game long.” “He made the plays that he needed to make and that’s what we need him to do,” Lasswell said about his goalkeeper. Lasswell said he was impressed with his freshman goalkeeper Michael Chazaro and the backline throughout the entire tournament, especially against a good Fort team. “If we would have scored some of those early ones in the second half it probably ends a little bit differently but as it was, we held on and we made the plays we needed to down the stretch.” "Unfortunately that can open up the door for the other team and that’s kind of what happened today,” Lasswell said about not finishing chances.
